The concept for this performance was to show a rarely known „face” of the Nordwestbahnhof - that one during rain and heavy weather. One of the aspects was to capture the rather monumental character of this place, which can be seen on the photos, as the places chosen for the photos offer a very open view on the place, thus creating the feeling we’re not even in the city anymore.
It was a very interesting experience for me, to do a photo session in weather condition leaving a lot to wish for – normally, people would choose a sunny or at least a bit clouded weather. But this opened my eyes to completely new possibilities and aspects of the place – what is the interaction between the dark sky and the structures , the play with the water on the ground, etc. It moved me to find such places that feel a bit like a desert, or that one can associate with the typical setting of a western. Another thing that helped me achieve this feeling is the fact that fast nobody was present there when I was taking those shots – it reinforced the feeling of being only a little particle in a very vast, deserted, monumental landscape.
One may say I have a very dark personality, if only by looking at the pictures, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. My aim was to show something different than normally and creating a poetic view on the place, but with a dramatic twist.
